Medical Spa Services FAQ
What is BOTOX®?
BOTOX® and other neuromodulators prevent muscle contraction by blocking nerve signals to specific muscles, giving a more refreshed appearance. BOTOX®, Dysport and Xeomin are all neuromodulators that work similarly. We will discuss which product is right for you based on your individual needs and concerns.
Why BOTOX®?
BOTOX® and other neuromodulators are used in the temporary treatment of fine lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive facial movement. It is a safe and effective way to prevent existing wrinkles from getting deeper and newer ones from forming. The goal of treatment is to preserve facial expression and give a natural result. Commonly treated areas include forehead lines, frown lines and lines formed by squinting/smiling. The treatment is quick, requires little to no downtime, and leads to noticeable results in as soon as 5-7 days. Full effect is appreciated by 2 weeks and may last 3-4 months.
What is Filler?
Fillers work by replenishing soft tissue that has been lost due to aging. Dr. Peter only carries the highest quality FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers that can be dissolved and reversed. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar molecule found in our body and plays an important role in maintaining tissue hydration. It is a key component to radiant, luminous skin. Dr. Peter uses Versa, Juvederm and Restylane fillers to allow for a more diverse selection to meet your individual needs. These HA fillers vary in viscosity, texture and level of structural support. We will determine the appropriate product depending on the area of treatment.
Why Fillers?
What we perceive as aging isn’t just skin deep, but also reflects changes to the deeper layers of our face. For some, treatment of some wrinkles can be accomplished with BOTOX®. For others, the best treatment course is filler to make the skin appear plump, hydrated and refreshed. Filler can be used in a variety of areas and is commonly used to fill creases and folds, restore the natural contours of our face, and give our lips a fuller, more youthful appearance. Results are immediate but require a healing process typically lasting up to a week. Filler can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months depending on treated area, product and patient metabolism.
