Does it hurt to have microblading/ombre powder brows done?

Most clients describe it as more of an annoying/uncomfortable feeling rather than painful! The most annoying feeling part is at the very beginning of the procedure when we are breaking the skin--once the skin is broken, I apply a liquid anesthetic that goes directly into your bloodstream, that will keep you super comfortable for the remainder of the procedure. Most clients don't feel anything happening to their brows after that is applied--some even fall asleep.

How often do I need to have my brows touched up after my first two sessions are complete?

This answer varies for each client. I recommend waiting to have your brows touched up until they are at least 40% faded. If they are touched up while they are still pretty well saturated, the touch up work will disappear into the previous work as it heals. Waiting until they are a bit more faded will ensure that you get the most out of your touch up! Generally, people are ready for a touch up within
1.5-2 years of their initial appointment.

What is the healing process like?

Your brows will appear a bit darker and more "filled in" for the first 5-7 days while the pigment is still fresh. After 5-7 days, the darker pigment will gradually start to flake off, revealing the softer, healed pigment that has settled into your skin. All of the darker flakes should come off naturally by days 10-14. At this point, your brows may appear lighter or softer than you want them to, and may have faded more in some areas. This is totally normal and expected! Your brows are only about 50% complete at that point, as permanent brows are a two step process. You will come back for a perfecting session 6-8 weeks after your first session to build up the brows even more, and get them exactly where you're wanting them. After that session is healed, your brows will be complete! The healing process can sound a bit intimidating, but you can absolutely still continue to work/go to school/socialize as you normally would. The darker/ flaky stages will be much more noticeable to you than it is to anyone else!

What are my restrictions during the healing process?

For the first 14 days after your first session and perfecting session, you will have to completely avoid the following:
• Using skincare with benzoyl peroxide, retinol, acids (besides hyaluronic) anywhere on the face
• Chemical peels
• Tanning
• Excessive sweating/intense exercise
• Swimming, saunas, baths, or hot tubs
• Applying makeup to the brow area
• Picking any flakes that have formed on the brows
• Tweezing, waxing or threading around the brow area
• Massage (due to laying face down on the bed)
• Direct sun exposure (wear a hat while outside)
• Excessive alcohol consumption

Why do my brows appear red/orange during the healing process?

Depending on the client and their skin tone/lifestyle, we will sometimes have to start the brow color a bit on the warmer side to prevent them from turning grey or ashy during the healing process. This is temporary! They will only have this slight warm tint for the first 10-14 days, then heal to a much more neutral color.

Why can't I drink caffeine or alcohol before my appointment?

Consuming any amount of caffeine or alcohol within 24 hours of your appointment will thin out your blood significantly. The more your blood thins out, the harder it will be for the pigment to implant into your skin, which will result in less than desirable results. If you are experiencing excessive bleeding during your appointment due to caffeine or alcohol consumption, you will be asked to reschedule to a later date to ensure that you have great results. You are more than welcome to stop and get a coffee immediately after your appointment if you'd like--just not before!
